
Rita is one of the leading wildlife and environment filmmakers in India, having made multiple award winning films under Dusty Foot Productions. This includes ‘The Wild Meat Trail’ that won the Panda award, also known as the Green Oscar in 2010 at Wildscreen UK.
In 2017 she was awarded the National Geographic – CMS Prithvi Ratna Award for contribution to environment through films. In 2015 she initiated the Green Hub Project ( A North East Network – Dusty Foot Initiative), which looks at leveraging the power of youth in conservation action and social change through the power of the visual medium.
With a growing alumni of Green Hub fellows becoming the spokesperson for environment conservation and sustainable futures in the northeast region, the model is now getting initiated in other parts of India. Rita got inducted as an Ashoka Fellow in 2019.
